“Roses can be served with anything.” - Julia Child
January 31st & February 2nd were exciting days for anyone following the vintages and trends from Sheldrake Point Winery - formally known as Sheldrake Point Vineyard (another trend you may or may not have picked up on). Seven-hundred cases of our classic 100% Cabernet Franc Dry Rose were bottled. Quite the drastic increase in production from the mere 130 cases produced of the 2010 vintage. There has been a growing trend (I like this word today) in our consumers demand for and intrigue in Rose. While our Rose has always been one of our best sellers, in the past couple of years we have seen our Roses leaving the shelf and landing in refrigerators across New York and beyond faster than ever. Despite what the critics who are still riding the wave of seasonality and lackluster character, Sheldrake Point Winery’s 2011 Dry Rose is one that will refresh the palate in between those intensely tannic reds and soothe the palate after the powerful acidity of some whites.
Pale salmon in color, with an intense bouquet lilac, rose and vanilla. Grapefruit mingles with candied lemon peel on the palate, leading to a silky and lingering floral finish. $12
